Sealing Pavers without Polymeric Sand in Lithia, Florida

Kathryn contacted us about her pavers sealing in Fishhawk. She was unhappy with the weeds, mold, and hazy look of her pool pavers. During the estimate we discovered her pavers were previously installed with polymeric sand. Many contractors use polymeric sand, however we recommend using processed, washed, no nutrient silica sand instead of polymeric sand due to the issues that Kathryn was dealing with.

In this video, you will see how the mold, dirt, and debris got embedded in the polymeric sand. In Florida, where we have lots of moisture and a high water table polymeric sand is not a good choice to stabilize paver joint sand. You will also see the white haze on the pavers that was upsetting to Kathryn. This can happen when polymeric sand is incorrectly applied or comes in contact with moisture before it is properly installed.

With our commercial pressure washing equipment and training we were able to safely remove the polymeric sand, weeds, and mold. After cleaning, we added silica sand to the joints, or crack, and used our sealer for concrete pavers that stabilizes the sand without the problems that comes with polymeric sand. Then, we applied multiple coats of sealer to protect the pavers and lock in the new sand.
